Sunny Days...

It all started the time Sydney was 8 months old and at her cousin Alexa's house. Alexa had an old "Elmo in Grouchland" movie that she put on one day. Sydney sat on my lap and watched that thing for like 1/2 hour straight. Since then she has developed a cute fascination with Elmo. I would occasionally let her watch the Elmo's world segment of Sesame Street in the months that followed. When Jimmy was home watching her while I was subbing, he would sit Syd in bed with him and let her watch Sesame Street while he tried to catch some more sleep. One night after Jimmy had done this I checked the DVR list on the TV to make sure that I had recorded something. I noticed that Sesame Street had been set to have all the episodes recorded. I asked Jimmy about it and he said that he didn't set it. (I didn't think since I'm pretty sure that he doesn't even know HOW to record anything!) He said that Sydney had been playing with the remote earlier when she was watching Sesame Street. Yes, somehow Sydney actually set the DVR to record all episodes of Sesame Street.

And so now she watches it almost everyday. She will sit very still through almost the entire hour now.


(Nice ribbon in her hair, right? I tied it in her hair earlier when we were playing. She actually left it in for quite a while. I'm sure if I actually wanted her to wear one for real, she would snatch it off the moment after I tied it!)

I can't believe I let my 15-month old watch TV. What kind of mother am I???? So what is everyone's opinion on letting babies watch TV? Not that I am going to turn it off, I am just curious.

Life Update

I should have posted this earlier in the week, but somehow I just haven't gotten around to it. I am so excited because Jimmy is back to work! His first day was on Tuesday and the poor guy is working 10 hour days plus Saturdays! It has been a big adjustment for him but he is pretty happy with his new crew. He is actually working on the same job site as the one he got injured at last year, but for a different company.

I love being back at home and so far it's been a very easy adjustment for me. I'll admit that I was a bit of a slacker SAHM last year, but I am going to try really hard to do a better job now. I am so happy that Jimmy is willing to work hard for us so I can stay at home with Sydney. So thanks for all you do for us hon! Love ya!

Bath Time

Sydney was being too cute during her bath yesterday. She kept picking up her toys and hugging them to her and kissing them.

Taylor

Yesterday was a sad day. We had to put Taylor to sleep. She was only 9 1/2 and I wasn't expecting it. Here is a little tribute to my cat:




Taylor was so strange. She loved anything fruit-flavored. She would even eat raspberries!

Loretta and Little Ally were so sweet yesterday. They brought me these pretty flowers and a condolence card. They really made me feel better even if I did get all choked up reading the card.

Valentine's Day

Good morning! Just a little "Happy Valentine's Day" greeting to everyone. Now we have to go eat our pink heart shaped pancakes!

Jimmy, the Stay at Home Dad

I came home today and found Sydney sitting in her high chair and watching cartoons. I noticed that she was in a t-shirt and diaper, nothing else. I asked Jimmy where her pants were and he said there were no clean ones. I just started cracking up. I found (and still find) it hilarious that Jimmy didn't either one do laundry or two dress her in one of her many clean dresses!!!!


I think Jimmy and I have both really come to appreciate this time in our reverse roles. I learned that I really need to work hard to do a better job at keeping the house clean and making sure we always have meals ready when the breadwinner gets home. Those are things that I really appreciate when I am working (not that they have happened too often ;). Jimmy has learned that be a stay-at-home parent is WAY WAY more difficult that he ever gave me credit for.

Hopefully Jimmy will get a job this week....

Happy Birthday Loretta and Lori!

I have been wanting to post this all day but unfortunately I just haven't had time. I had plenty of downtime at work, but no, stupid CCSD prohibits looking at "personal pages" like blogger on their computers. How ridiculous. Anyway.....

Happy birthday today to my sister-in-law Loretta. She is, of course, a twin so it is her sister Lori's birthday too.

Here is a cute picture that I found of them in my scrapbook. (I didn't have too many options since I only have three scrapbooks here - the rest are at my mom's. Well, actually this was my only option.)

Here they are just a few years ago ; ) at a party for their high school graduation.

Aren't they so cute?! Happy birthday ladies! I hope you had great birthdays, and Loretta, hopefully David acknowledged it this year!

Happy Birthday Andrea!

Today is my oldest friend's birthday. (By oldest I mean the friend I've know the longest - she's not really old!) I have know her since we were like three years old in Joy School. I don't remember too much about those days though.... our Kindergarten memories are a little clearer. Even though I moved away from Midway just before 4th grade, we have kept in touch all these years. Recently, thanks to the joys of blogs, I really feel like I am keeping up on her daily life and I LOVE it!

Anyway, I hope you read this, Andrea and know that I was thinking of you. I am such a slacker with cards these days, so this will have to do!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREA!

Here we are on the first day of 2nd grade. (Apparently I was feeling very patriotic that day.)

Here were are in the summer of 1992 teaching our "Summer Fun School." Andrea would come visit in the summers after I moved to BC. We had some pretty awesome times. Don't we look super professional?
