First Day of School

Today was my first day back to school with students so it was Sydney's first day at preschool. She didn't want me to leave when I dropped her off which was a little surprising, but after I left she did fine!

Summer Fun

You would think that since I am off all summer I would have time to blog. I guess we have been so busy doing things that I just haven't had a chance to blog about them.....

Here are a few things we have done this summer:

Played with cousins in Utah

Visited a museum with David, Loretta, Ally and Maddie

Played at a super fun park in Fairview

fed baby lambs

played with cousins at Jenny's wedding open house

picked zucchini and apricots at an orchard

attended Amy's wedding

played at the park

had fun at the "beach pool" as Sydney calls it

and went to the zoo (that was an exciting 45 minutes!).

4th of July

We had a great 4th of July doing the same things we do most 4th of Julys. On Saturday, we watched the parade in BC. (Papa and Sydney raced to see who could get the most candy from political candidates.)

Next, swim and BBQ at Grandma D.'s

I can't blog about the 4th without mentioning my 3-gallon bucket of Thrifty's Chocolate Malted Krunch ice cream. This is my favorite flavor of ice cream and I am super happy now that I know that the business Costco carries this stuff in bulk!

Celebrations continued on Sunday with the traditional annual viewing of Independence Day and watching of fireworks.

On Getting Older.....

On the eve of my 30th birthday, I guess it's only fitting to reflect on getting older. I can't say that I'm thrilled to be turning 30, but since this is how I celebrated, I can't complain. Besides, if there is anything that makes me feel like I'm 19 again, it's the Goo Goo Dolls. They've been my favorite band for as long as I think I've had a favorite band. This is the 6th time I've seen them in concert and of course it is the only time I've ever met them. The concert last night was perfect and winning the meet and greet was just the icing on the cake.

Rapunzel, Rapunzel

Grandma Rose sent a beautiful crocheted blanket in the mail today that she was working on when she and Grandpa visited. Also inside was this great wig that she knew Sydney would love. Sydney immediately put on the "Rapunzel" wig as she calls it and spent the afternoon playing with it.

Shark Reef

We took advantage of the Shark Reef's generous teacher discount program (they let us all in for free!) last week.

Grandpa and Grandma Rose Visit

We had a nice picnic at the park with Grandpa and Grandma Rose. After a quick change in plans, we ended up at the Splash Park. Sydney was very concerned because she didn't have her swimsuit. I told her not to worry because I was sure the water wouldn't be turned on. Of course, I was wrong. After wading through the water in her shirt and skirt, then shirt and panties, Aubrey arrived with a second swimsuit. The kids didn't seem to care, but the water was freezing!

The next day we went to Nana and Papa's and had another nice visit with Grandma and Grandpa. Sydney entertained us with her dressing up antics and even got Uncle David to be Prince Phillip to her Aurora.
