Another Hair Post....

Yes, another post about Sydney's hair. I don't know why I love posting about her hair.

Sydney wore her Cinderella costume for the Ward Chili Cook Off/Carnival and I decided to curl her hair. She sat very still while I put the curlers in.
After a few hours, I took them out and got these results!

Hilarious! After the carnival we were enjoying some dessert at Nana and Papa's and I had to take some pictures of the cousins with almost matching hair. I am so jealous of Aubrey's beautiful, natural curly hair.
These were the best pictures I could get even after bribing the girls with candy corn!
Although you can't see her hair very well in the below picture I had to throw it in cause it's so cute!

So Many Cute Pictures to Post, So Little Time....

I've been meaning to post these cute pictures and am just now getting to it. I have lots more too, these are just some random ones.

Sydney's very first braids in her hair - one on each side. Now if only she would have let me take a good picture!
Rub-a-dub-dub, three kids in a tub. The cousins had to take a bath after their sprinkler-running-through adventures. Those photos to be posted soon...
Sydney's new favorite "hang out" at Grandma Linda's. And I would love, love, love this picture if only her pants didn't have some sort of sauce on them....
Sydney isn't too sure of riding on her Daddy's motorcycle. She did love when we were driving in the car and he was riding right next to us. If he sped up she would yell "Daddy, motie-cycle, wait, wait...."

FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!

Okay, so I don't know why I try to do these things. Here is my cake for the Ward Fire Safety Carnival/Chili Cook-Off/Cake Auction event. I thought the idea was pretty cool....execution, um, not so great. I was getting frustrated and just wanted to get it done after the top of it collapsed and I had to redo it!

Syd the Swimmer

Today Sydney completed her 5-week Infant Swim Resource (ISR) course. If you haven't heard of the program, basically it teaches survival swimming skills to infants and toddlers. The program is quite unique because it is one-on-one with the instructor for 10 minutes, 5 days a week for anywhere between 3-6 weeks. Children under 1 are taught to float and kids over 1 are taught a swim, float, swim sequence to get to steps or the edge of a pool.

When Jimmy first found this video from an ad for ISR he immediately wanted Sydney to start the program, but I was nervous. The video is pretty amazing, but it's pretty freaky too.

I told Jimmy we would start but I was going to pull Sydney out after the first time if I didn't like it.

Turns out, I had nothing to be nervous about. The experience was great and Sydney loved her teacher Miss Frankie. Even though Sydney always cried (super fake crying, mind you) in the water, she always got excited when it was time to go to swim class.

At the end of the course students are tested on their skills while wearing summer clothes and winter clothes (complete with diapers and shoes).

And of course, Little Miss Cross Legs has to float with her super crossed legs. Miss Frankie says she is such a little lady. But seriously, she floated every time with crossed legs!

Sydney will take a refresher course in the spring or summer to perfect her swim, float, swim sequence, but for now, if she were to fall in a pool, she has the skills to be able to survive.

Who Wants to go to Disneyland???

In case you haven't heard....Disney is offering free tickets to either Disneyland or Disney World on your birthday next year! Just register online and they will send you an email so you can go for free on your exact birthday in 2009. Click here for the link. I registered Jimmy and Sydney too. I figure it can't hurt. We might actually make it on one of those days and we'll get a free ticket!

Parenting 101

So, I get an F in Parenting 101 for the day....

This morning I was getting ready for the day, taking a shower, making my bed, folding laundry, etc., etc. Sydney was playing in her room and then walking her little stroller back and forth in our tiny hall. After I finished what I was doing, I went into her room and happened to see that she had colored on her wall with a purple crayon. We had the "coloring on the wall is naughty" conversation and I handed her a baby wipe to start wiping it off. I got some cleaner and a rag from the bathroom and began to scrub. Sydney got released from duty after a minute or so and I continued to clean the wall. When I turned around, Sydney had taken all the baby wipes out of the container and strewn them about. We picked them up and put them back and I went to go put away the cleaner. Well, guess I should have remembered to put away that purple crayon because when I returned Sydney had drawn on the wall again.

Needless to say, the crayons are put away for a while.
